Well thank god winter is over that's all I can say. Racing kennels around the country have experienced one of the longest running sickness bugs I've known during this season.
Our first sickness case started in December and the bug has gone around the kennel since.
It's often only lasted 24 hours but it's enough to take the edge off the greyhounds.
Since the start of 2017 we've introduced a fair number of newcomers to the graded strength at Crayford, it's always exciting bringing pups through and it's great to look back and see how much they improved later on.
Droopys Andes started his career off superbly when winning his first 4 races at Crayford in December. Andes has continued that rise through the ranks this year polishing off A2, A1 and then for good measure a £500 open race on the undercard of the Sky Sports covered Ladbrokes Golden Jacket final meeting. With 7 wins from 12 races we will now aim Andes at some puppy open races. Droopys Andes is part of the Jim Daly Racing syndicate and you could be a proud owner in him for a one off price of £160.
Kelva Chloe is one of the sweetest natured greyhounds you'll ever find and she looks forward to giving every one a cuddle at the kennels in the mornings. However after no wins from her first 16 races we was starting to wonder if she'd prefer an early retirement from racing and put her feet up on a sofa!! After her 16th defeat we decided to give Kelva Chloe a solo trial to boost her confidence. It's was also at that point we'd decided that we would take her forward several more races and if she still hadn't won we'd find her a nice home. The solo trial went well Chloe recorded a personal best of 24.03 over 380m at Crayford. Although getting beat in her next race, Chloe has taken giant steps forward since winning 5 of her latest 8 races. Kelva Chloe is also part of Jim Daly Racing syndicate and we have shares available in her at just £30.
Jim Daly Racing club which we launched at the backend of last year continues to have success at Crayford. Go Pixie being the most successful of our 12 Racing Club greyhounds rising through the grades to A2 class now. Keep an eye out for Madame Moo Moo who makes her debut for Jim Daly Racing club next week. Moo Moo is a big character in the kennels at home and she looks like she has ability to win races too.
On the breeding side, 2016 Ladbrokes Golden Jacket finalist Droooys Alberta is a couple of weeks away from having pups to Australian imported sire Azza Azza Azza. Hopefully on our next update we can tell you how mum and pups are doing.
